Welcome Santah to the Family! White Noise Bed CD/12"/Digital out June 7th!
We are happy to finally welcome IL’s Santah to the No Sleep family and announce the upcoming full length release “White Noise Bed” out on June 7th! Pre-orders will be up shortly! Check out the official press release below!Santah was born with their feet planted in the ground and their heads in the clouds. Composed of guitarist/vocalist Stanton McConnell, drummer Steven Plock, bassist Otto Stuparitz, and Tommy Trafton on keyboards, the quintet met at the University of Illinois and with their debut full-length record, “White Noise Bed,” they have assembled a kaleidoscopic opus whose reach extends far beyond the Midwest.
Recorded at the late Jay Bennett’s Pieholden Studios, where the band found its niche among the studio’s forbearers of psychedelic Americana, “White Noise Bed” has a yin and yang aesthetic: sometimes sunny and sometimes stormy, but always running on audible elation. The band takes its cues from the power pop greats of the 70’s such as The Raspberries and The Cars, and dresses them in a twangy haze, full of clever, lyrical nooks and crannies ala Wilco and Whiskeytown.
After finishing the record last May, Stan’s sister Vivian joined the band, adding her passionate vocals and thoughtful guitar. They have since been touring the country and building their cult following; performing multiple sets at CMJ, SXSW and the Pygmalion Music Festival, and sharing the stage with the likes of Surfer Blood, Cults, Margot and the Nuclear So So’s, Pomegranates and Young the Giant.
Santah isn’t just something the listener hears, it’s something they feel. Be it a tropical aura of relaxation, the bittersweet mystery of growing up, or the lulling memory of a past love, Santah creates an original sonic journey for all.

TS & The Past Haunts (Travis Shettel of Piebald) Joins the Family! Digital EP out 3/29!
We are very pleased and excited to FINALLY let you in on something that has been kept secret for a little while… Please welcome TS & THE PAST HAUNTS (Travis Shettel of Piebald) to the ever-growing No Sleep family! Look for the debut Digital EP “Caveman Rock” to be available on iTunes March 29th, 2011. The band will also be beginning production on their debut full length next week with Robert Creek (RX Bandits/Deftones) at The Hangar.Official press Release:
Formed out of the demise of Boston indie/punk rock royalty, TS & The Past Haunts came to be through mutual friends sharing common interests. Travis Shettel (TS/Totally Travis), guitarist, singer and ring-leader of the band Piebald, met The Duke Spirit (Shangri-La Records) when he was invited to take on tour manager duties for the band during one of their first US tours. Acting as a US Ambassador-of-sorts for the band, a friendship was formed and The Duke Spirit soon learned of Travis’ musical past. After asking TS to join them both on the road and in the studio playing keys and percussion, it would only be a matter of time before they would return the favor. Travis and The Duke Spirit knuckled down in between their tours of Australia and the UK and recorded a handful of his songs; learning, writing and recording along the way.Since the Dukes have their own schedules full with… well, The Duke Spirit, Travis wanted an outlet to perform the songs live. The recordings with The Dukes were a catalyst for the formation of a true band. He found his rhythm section in Ben (drums) and Heather (bass) Heywood, a married duo who front bands of their own (Summer Darling and Kissing Cousins, respectively). The power trio version of TS & THE PAST HAUNTS has been busy; playing shows and writing songs. In the very near future, they will be heading north to Sacramento to record a full length album with Robert Cheek at the tape-op darling studio, The Hangar. They plan to record live to capture the energy and rawness of their live performances. The new batch of songs are energized blasts of dark rock that still maintain pop sensibilities. It’s all here…Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you…TS & THE PAST HAUNTS!
TS & The Past Haunts begin production of their debut album Monday, February 28th at The Hangar in Sacramento, CA with Robert Cheek (RX Bandits, Deftones). A remixed and remastered version of the band’s “Caveman Rock” EP will be released through all major digital retail outlets for the first time on March 29th through No Sleep Records.

No Trigger Joins The Family!
We are very excited to finally announce/welcome No Trigger to the ever-growing/evolving No Sleep family. Please follow them on Twitter, like them on Facebook and friend them on MySpace.Official Press Release:
No Trigger is back in the saddle again gearing up for their long awaited sophomore record, their first in five years since the debut release of Canyoneer on Nitro Records. Starting in 2003, the Massachusetts band has gained recognition touring nationally and worldwide. From playing the basements and legion halls of New England to overseas tours with Set Your Goals, A Wilhelm Scream, and Strike Anywhere; No Trigger have seen it all and have recently re-enlisted all of the band's original members to put forth their newest material.
Despite break up rumors, No Trigger recently burst out of hiatus and released their "Be Honest" 7'' with Mightier Than Sword. Early 2011 also brings a headline tour to Australia in January, confirmation for GroezRock Festival Belgium in April, and now a Summer release with the No Sleep family.
No Trigger is a melodic punk/hardcore band formed in 2003, with a sound which takes cues from like-minded outfits such as Strike Anywhere and None More Black. The band self-released two demos, one of them a split with the band Wasteland. By this point the band had started to gain accolades from webzines like Pastepunk and Punknews, the latter of which referred to No Trigger as close to being "the best unsigned band in America."
In late 2004, the band compiled these recordings and remastered the sound for their debut release, Extinction in Stereo, released on independent record label Bigmouth Japan. Extinction received a significant amount of attention and praise from the punk rock press.
In 2005, No Trigger signed to independent record label Nitro Records, and their debut full-length, entitled Canyoneer, was released on March 21, 2006.
A long period of inactivity following Canyoneer lead to speculation that No Trigger had broken up. The band released an update in September 2010 which announced that the original lineup had reformed and were going to release Be Honest, a 7" EP on December 14th, 2010 and a brand new full length which they'll begin recording with producer Jay Maas in March 2011.
* To date, No Trigger has toured the US with some of the most recognized names in the punk rock circuit including Crime In Stereo, Killing The Dream, Marathon, Polar Bear Club, The Saint Catherines, New Mexican Disaster Squad, The Aquabats, Streetlight Manifesto, the Warped Tour, The Phenomenauts, None More Black, Set Your Goals, Only Crime, Good Riddance, Smoke or Fire, and more as well as Canadian dates with Set Your Goals and Daggermouth. They have toured the UK and Europe twice (first with A Wilhelm Scream followed by 52 shows in 53 days with Set Your Goals), and have completed a full tour of Japan with Strike Anywhere. The band has also performed notable regional one-off shows with Propagandhi, Small Brown Bike, Bane, Paint It Black, and I Am The Avalanche and have played prominent punk rock gathering The Fest in Gainesville Florida three years in a row in 2006, 2007, and 2008.

Sever Your Axe
Since their 2002 formation, The Felix Culpa have focused on taking the road less traveled, no matter how long it might take. After delivering a stunning debut (2004’s Commitment) and getting written up numerous times in such tastemaking publications as Alternative Press, the band -vocalist/guitarist Marky Hladish, bassist/vocalist Tristan Hammond and drummer Joel Coan - found themselves being courted by numerous labels, all looking to capitalize on the band’s uniquely aggressive and starkly beautiful take on art rock. Instead of striking while the iron was hot, the band receded from the spotlight, playing the occasional show - including a run as the backing band for Braid/Hey Mercedes frontman Bob Nanna - and, after picking up guitarist/vocalist Dustin Currier in 2007, beginning the long, arduous process of creating their second album, Sever Your Roots.Over two years in the making, Sever Your Roots (originally self-released by the Culpa in January 2010) finds the band firing on all cylinders. From the unhinged guitar madness in “Our Holy Ghosts” and the head-spinning drumming of “The Constant” to the scathing lyrics and pummeling rhythms of “An Instrument” to the gorgeous arrangement and soaring chorus of “Apologies,” there is nary a flaw to be found over the album’s 66-minute run time. Very few musicians can create music even worth listening to these days; even fewer can create art. The Felix Culpa are that rare breed of band who grasp the importance of both melody and dissonance, and Sever Your Roots is a true masterpiece.
2010 has been the busiest year yet for the Culpa; the band have been on the road with the Dear Hunter, Balance And Composure, O’Brother, Sainthood Reps and more, even being invited to Austin, Texas, by Gotta Groove Records to play their showcase during this year’s South By Southwest Music Festival. Couple that with a mountain of positive press in response to Sever Your Roots, and it was a no-brainer that the band would once again have labels knocking at their door, with rising indie label No Sleep Records (the Wonder Years, La Dispute) coming out on top. No Sleep will reissue Sever Your Roots in January 2011 which the band will support well into the year with nonstop touring.
* The Felix Culpa are currently putting the finishing touches on the video for new song “Our Holy Ghosts.”

Now, Now Joins The Family
Minneapolis, MN trio Now, Now and No Sleep Records are proud to announce the release of the Neighbors EP, out December 7th. Two years removed from their critically acclaimed album Cars (2008), and missing a few words off their name (formerly Now, Now Every Children), Neighbors marks a rebirth of sorts for the twin cities group.Download the song “Neighbors” for FREE
2009 was a heady year that saw Now, Now lifted from the cold of the upper Midwest, and thrust into multiple US and European tours on account of their successful debut Cars. But after the strangeness of going from 100 capacity rooms to playing with arena sized act, Now, Now found it time to collect composure and reassess where the miles traveled had actually brought them. The obvious step seemed to be to get back to basics and build from what they knew. They began ruminating on ideas they’d thought up here and there while on the road, and in contrast to Cars, opted out of the studio and returned to the basement to lay down the tracks that would become the Neighbors EP.
Entirely self-recorded, engineered, and produced, the sincerity found on the seven new recordings bleeds through with stunning clarity. Cacie’s ever-angelic vocals are wrapped inside Jess and Brad’s guitars, bells, drums, keys, and effects. The resulting blanket of sound binds to form propulsive wall of sonic energy that alternately chugs and sways along to the groups unique interplay between melody and rhythm. Acoustic versions of the tracks “Giants” and “Neighbors” at the end of the EP provide a beautiful take on each and show the versatility of Now, Now and their songs.
Pre-Order deals and discounts including special prices on T-Shirts and limited edition items may be found at NoSleepStore.com. Now, Now plan to play select tour dates throughout the end of the year before heading back to the basement to finish work on their sophomore album.

Please welcome Stay Ahead Of The Weather to the family!
"Sometimes it seems like our lives can be stretched thin by our careers, by our hobbies, by any number of distractions...but this is something that the four of us will always be able make time for."
Stay Ahead Of The Weather is almost a year old. They're four friends living, working, playing music and growing up in a Midwest DIY scene that means the world to them. A few of them play in a couple other bands (Into It. Over It. / Native / Castevet), but started this band for fun. They wanted to write songs that they love and have another excuse to hang out with each other in between going to shows and going to work. After almost 9 months of toiling over each guitar line, drum fill and trying to work around all of their individual touring schedules, they finally set time to record their first 5 songs, a collection which is titled "We Better Get Goin' If We're Gonna." They recorded the album in three days with their friend Mark Michalik (The Swellers, Fireworks, Castevet, Into It. Over It.) at Drasik Studios in Chicago, IL. No Sleep Records was later kind enough to put the record out on a 7", the way the band initially envisioned it (and had always intended it) to be.
* Stay Ahead Of The Weather features:
Evan Weiss from Into It. Over It., The Progress - vocals/guitar
Nick Wakim of Castevet, Oceans - drums
Bobby Markos of Native - bass
Matt Jordan - Guitar
* The new album was recorded in the late summer of 2010 with producer/engineer Mark Michalik (The Swellers, Fireworks, Into It Over It)
at Drasik Studios in Chicago, IL, and mastered by Carl Saff (Melt Banana, Young Widows, Coliseum)

When It Comes To Aficionado
An 8 piece band based out of Albany, New York, the members of Aficionado proudly wear their hearts and punk roots on their sleeves while seeking to shatter the glass ceiling imposed by most post-punk drawing. Their debut No Sleep release "When It Comes to Creation" was produced and recorded by the legendary Don Fury (Quicksand, The World/Inferno Friendship Society, Gorilla Biscuits), and features five highly excitable hook-filled tracks (plus one more bonus track available with digital download), offering up an unorthodox blend of post-punk and experimental rock.As the fourth track, "Naysayers," roars across the finish line, vocalists Nick Warchol and Laura Carozza urge, "I know what I want, and that's all that I've got, it's the least I can say, at least I know what I'm not." This sharp sense of purpose bolsters the music from start to finish. A triple guitar attack provides the foundation for their big rock sound, with blistering solos and weaving harmonies, while the twisting interplay of keyboards, horns, and flute provide for unique textures and melodies.
"When It Comes to Creation" challenges ideas that as we all grow older and venture into adulthood, we have to abandon all of the things we love and all the places where we find passion, in exchange for safety, security, and acceptance. We seek the acceptance of our music scenes, our peers, our parents, and we're told that if we file down all our rough edges and sharp corners, and just be the things that everyone else wants us to be, we will all be happy and successful. However these successes are measured by material and monetary profits rather than by the value of our experiences. There's nothing wrong with selling yourself, as long as you're not selling a cheap knock-off version of yourself. Like it or not, this is Aficionado.
* The vinyl release will be available on clear vinyl with a screen printed b side limited to 500 copies for the first pressing, download card included.

No Sleep welcomes Atlantic/Pacific!
Brooklyn’s Atlantic/Pacific – featuring Garrett Klahn (Texas is the Reason) and John Herguth (House & Parish) – sign with No Sleep Records and announce the release of their debut album Meet Your New Love – due out October 26th, 2010. These two experienced rockers are joined by Ian Love (Rival Schools) who contributes guest instrumentation as well production skills to help the group create their psych/folk sound that will appeal to fans of indie-rock as well as rock and roll traditionalists with its’ looped yet tribal yet shuffling drums and both dynamic and big guitar sounds.Meet Your New Love was recorded and produced by Ian at the Brooklyn Love Studios this past winter and features 10 songs of give and take intimate vocals – Garrett’s immediate, John’s hushed, a study of layered guitar work and pensive melodies ranging in influence from Fleet Foxes, Beach House, Washed Out and The Smiths. In addition, the album was mastered at the Boiler Room in Chicago by Collin Jordan, whose skills can be seen on albums from Kanye West to Ministry.
Atlantic/Pacific formed in the summer of 2008 when long time friends Garrett Klahn and John Herguth began kicking around a few songs in Garrett’s Brooklyn apartment. Soon after, Atlantic/Pacific started performing in NY and Europe with projections of 70s skateboarders and surfers playing behind them. The band did shows with Mercury Rev, Neil Halstead, Chamberlain, and Walter Schreifels, and have played the UK’s TRUCK Festival – an annual UK music festival often seen as a microcosm of Glastonbury, Reading and Leeds – for the last two years in a row. In the fall of 2009 they self-released an EP called Autumn Edition Volume 1 – which was well received by fans and led them to start work on their full-length debut.
Altantic/Pacific was thrilled when No Sleep approached them about joining their majorly diverse roster (Pop Punk, Hip Hop, Emo, Screamo, Hardcore, Indie and so on) and releasing Meet Your New Love. Set for an October 26th release, the band will be hitting the road in support of the new album so look for tour dates to be announced soon. To catch a preview of Meet Your New Love, go to Atlantic/Pacific’s MySpace to hear “Patterns” and “Some Weary Valentine.”

Bifocal from Double Vision
Move over Mary Kate and Ashley. Twin brothers Jonathan and Jarred Lindsay aka Mackamillion and Mr. Mackmore, known as the hip-hop duo Double Vision, are the newest force poised to take over hip-hop. Their debut album, Bifocal (No Sleep Records), consists of eight tracks—reminiscent of Pharcyde, Outkast mixed with Gym Class Heroes—that masterfully fuses together hip-hop, rock and Ska, over cleverly worded lyrics. The result is something truly distinctive. The track “Skinny Jeans” showcases Double Vision’s playful side. Mackamillion rhymes: “So check the way we rock it/ skinny jeans fat pockets.” over a sparse, retro beat, compliments of New York track masters, the Padhitters.
But any complete album will inspire introspection, and Bifocal is no exception. On "Walk On By," the twins trade verses about individuality and acceptance. “It's definately personal for us,” notes Mackamillion. “Being that we're not your stereotypical hip-hop band on an almost all rock label.”
These two certainly defy stereotypes. Born in Venice, CA, they moved throughout the mid-west and the south as kids. Products of the hip-hop generation, they started rhyming before they were out of their Underoos. In high school, they hooked with producer Bill Blast aka Motion Plus and formed Double Vision. In 2008 recorded their first EP, No Explanation.
“When we started, it was the bling era of hip-hop, so we were different from the norm,” explains Mr. Mackmore. “So we just kept doing our thing. And that’s the concept of this album: Be You!”
Guests on Bifocal include Johanna Phraze & Dale "uncle perk" Perkins. Production is shared producer Jansport J, Marcus D, and Jeff "Stress" Davis, and the Padhitters.

Double Vision Post "Fathers Day"
Double Vision have posted the song "Fathers Day" from their forthcoming EP Bifocal on their MySpace page in celebration of the holiday and fathers old and young.Johnathan Lindsay from the hip hop twin duo had this to say about the song
"Being that there's already a ton of songs celebrating the great mothers in the world, we felt like making "Fathers Day" was definately needed, if not over due. With us being raised by a single father, and other father figures, that also played a major part in the inspiration of the song. When we wrote it, we tried to make something classic, something timeless, a song that could be played and loved years from now. Not just on fathers day."

Also if you have not done so yet, a couple records up for pre-order:
Touche Amore / La Dispute "SFAP/TWOTW" 7"
Frontier(s) "The Plains" 7"
Touche Amore/La Dispute
If you have not pre-ordered a copy of the new Split 7", Searching for a Pulse/The Worth of the World from Touche Amore/La Dispute yet I would recommend you do so now if you want one. There are just about 100 copies left of the 700 set aside for pre-orders.Searching For A Pulse/The Worth Of The World is the musical and emotional convergence of two groups of close friends who, while from entirely different locations and backgrounds, share a common passion for creating honest art that seeks to explore the deeper aspects of everyday existence. In particular, the songs on either side of this record discuss thematically the sometimes crippling mediocrity of day-to-day life, paying special attention to the effect environment has on self while attempting to reconcile feelings of discontent in the face of self-doubt.
Musically, the 7” represents a new approach for both bands. In an attempt to add aesthetic continuity to the lyrical concept, they focused on finding musical middle ground with the other — a process that forced both bands into new creative territories and added a consistency uncharacteristic of most splits. The end result is a four song collaborative examination of life, two musical snapshots from two very different cities that each show the same lingering uncertainty present everywhere, and a challenge to the creative process.
Recorded during similar time periods both in Los Angeles and in New York and featuring collaborative digital and hand-drawn artwork from LA DISPUTE’s Adam Vass and TOUCHE AMORE’s Nick Steinhardt, as well as vocal collaborations between each band’s vocalists, Searching For A Pulse/The Worth Of The World arrives via No Sleep Records this July. Included inside is a digital download card of all four songs.
